In my own personal devotion time, I am doing a devotion on living a life of balance.  which obviously, i need to work on, but don't we all.  So, in the study i was doing last night, the question was posed:  if you could be any act in a circus, what act would you be? (this is now one of my new favorite questions!) 

 

I decided I want to be a horse-lady.  you know the ones, they dress in those specatcular sequined costumes and ride the horses around the rings.  the horses normally have feathers on their heads, but are barebacked.  I want to ride one of those, as they go racing around the arena, and eventually, the woman stands up on the back of the horse, while it runs.  now that takes extrodinary balance.  and sometimes, they even stand on their hands, while the horse runs, they do their routine.

 

But then i realized, this trick takes more that balance, but it takes trust.  trust in another being, much bigger than you, whose actions you can't always predict.

 

So, while I am in my journey for balance in life, I also have to trust.  not only myself, but a being much, much bigger than me, whose actions I can't predict, but I know they will always end up good for me.  Like Paul writes in Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love God, who have been called according to God's purpose. (by the way, chapter 8 of Romans has some great great stuff!)

 

Balance and trust....yeah, I definately want to be a horse-lady. (there has to be a better name for that, i will have to look it up)  and maybe someday i will even look good in one of those sequined costumes!
