I hate hate.  kind of repetitive I know.  So, what brought this on you ask?  well, I have recently had 3 expirences/watched programs about racism.  and it just makes me so mad, and so sick to my stomach that I am going to rant on my blog.

 

expirence number 1:  A few weeks ago, I was watching dateline.  which doesn't happen often, and maybe should happen more.  but, they had these two 13ish sisters....i think they were twins, or at least very close in age.  pretty girls, super blond hair, fresh faces, looked very all-american.  They are singers.  And they showed a clip of their video.  They are a group called Prussian Blue.  before the music started on the video, you see the number "88"  and the phrase "14 words"  then they showed part of the video.  they were cute.  then the interviewer asked them, "what does 88 mean?"  and they said "well, H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, so Hail Hitler."    totally deadpan, like duh...  and so the interviewer said. "what is 14 words" (I could tell at this point she was trying very hard not to sound disgusted) and the girls rattled off the mantra of Hitler's youth!   I thought right then and there I was going to be sick. as the segment went on, it showed the hate of these people, and the way these girls were convinced that there way was the right way. yuck

 

expirence number 2:  just a few days ago, I was browsing blogs, and came across one that mad me sick.  this woman was talking about how she didn't want mexicans living next door to her.  because you know, all mexicans are dirty and bad......yuck.  seriously!  i was disgusted.  in fact, after reading that, i was disgusted by that for the rest of the day.

 

expirence number 3:  Law and Order SVU.  last night was about a white supermecy group that hunted out kids at an elementary school, and shot them, sniper-style from the roof of a nearby building.  Gross.  It was a good episode, don't get me wrong.  but it just bothered me, because i know that kind of thing still happens in our county.  and that makes me sick.

 

It bothers me that there is so much hate.  Especially over things we cannot control, like our ethenticity, and uniqueness, which should be celebrated.   and another thing that gets on my nerves?  when these groups claim to have the support of God!!!!!!!  excuse me, will you please read Romans? Paul talks all over in the book of Romans about how God accepts us all if we have faith.  or Galatians?  Galatians 3:28 says: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

 

So what can we, as Christians, and as people of the world do to combat hate?  it sometimes seems like a hopeless task, that hate seems so strong.  but I do know that Love is stronger than hate.   and maybe, if we all live by love, and do simple loving tasks we can beat down hate.  Didn't Jesus sum it all up in Matthew?  Matthew 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

 

It is my prayer that you live your life loving others, and beating back the hate.  Ok, i am done preaching now....
