12月22日 Christmas MemoriesWell, in just a few hours, i will be leaving for Minnesota. HOORAY!!! (can you tell I am excited?) I have been thinking a lot this week about various Christmas memories. Every Christmas is a little different at my house. This year will be the first year that we really do a Christmas at my mom's and my dad's, and so that will be different from years before. But I wanted to share some of my favorite Christmas memories with ya!
-The year we got the race car set as a family. "santa" made a treasure hunt with clues and the whole works. Us kids ran upstairs and downstairs and found the cars, track, the whole works in the trunk of the car. We were so excited. I think my dad was just as excited!
-The year my Grandma got my sister and I doors for our bedrooms. (we had curtains before that!) She wrapped the doorknobs so we would have something under the tree. The look on my sister's face when she opened it and saw that Grandma had given her a doorknob....hilarious...it took her a few seconds to realize she was getting a door to go with that doorknob.
-Making pizzels with Grandma weekends before Christmas. She better have some vanilla ones saved for me this year!!!
-Making Mound's balls with mom...I don't think she really liked doing it, but us kids would ask every year...at least we would help!
-Christmas morning one year in college, when I woke up and there was a cow in the basement.....ok, a calf, but it was so cold out that dad brought it in to thaw out, it had just been born. Ahh, farm life!
-The first time I went to a Christmas eve service and held a candle while singing silent night. Magical!
-Playing flute in the Christmas eve services every year.
You know, there are probably many, many more memories. But these are some of my favorites. I know that this year will hold even more memories!
