1月22日 Little BrotherToday is my little brother's 20th Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER! ok, so i know he doesn't read my blog, but I know my mom does, so she will appreciate this.
For many years, i didn't really like having a little brother. I always felt like he "stole" my dad from me. It took me a long time to realize that he didn't have anything to do with it. I just lost interest in the things my dad liked, like farming. And besides, little brothers can be kind of a pain in the butt. for those of you who have siblings, you proabably know what i mean.
But now, I feel so fortunate to have a little brother. I am most glad about the fact that I not only can call him my brother, but probably more importantly, my friend. and i don't know a lot of people who feel like their siblings are really friends. but my brother is. we probably don't talk as much as we should, but when we do, we have great conversations.
He has always amazed me with how intuitive he is to the emotions and feelings of others. When doing a project on family systems my sophmore year of college, I had my family fill out charts of relationships with each other. His was the one that really made me cry. at 16, he got it. He is very funny, he always makes me laugh. but he is also really concerned about me, and whats going on in my life. I appreciate how much he values spending time with his family. I appreciate how hard he works. Those are just a few of the things I love about my brother.
So happy 20th. welcome to the world of young adulthood. you are no longer a teenager. I love you, and i am so glad i can call you my brother and my friend.
